The Winchmore Preschool - Creators

Creators (2 to 3-year old’s)

Our creators start dipping their toes into our unique curriculum for over twos when they enter this age group. Two to three have developed the skill of moving with ease and their vocabulary is now developing rapidly. They really enjoy imaginative play. They are becoming increasingly independent and want to try to do things themselves and test out others reactions.

Their home base room, where they start and end the day and have their lunch is our Visual Arts or Performing Arts studios. In between time spent in their base room, they have daily access to the outdoor play space and to our dedicated curriculum teachers. They will visit Performing Arts for music dance and sometimes PE. They spend time in the Art Studio taking part in art projects, experimenting and exploring a wide range of materials and techniques. The Early Years and Discovery Studio is where they are introduced to early literacy, numeracy, science and technology through fun play activities. Throughout the day there are opportunities to take part in exciting activities planned around their needs, interests, talents and abilities and the opportunity for the children to make choices, from environments that are planned for their age group.

Creators will also attend extra- curricular sessions such as yoga, dance and sport, provided they attend on the day these sessions take place.

Many children this age still require a nap after lunch and those who do sleep together on sleep mats in one of the studios with staff supervision. Those who do not join the older children for relaxation and quiet play, so they have some time to rest.
